Harvard Professor plans innovative tech Institute in Kenya. 4 week tech volunteer trip planned. International development expert develops model media lab for community of 60,000 people in Western Kenya where he was born. WCE is looking for templates for design and implementation of a model multi-media center. $4,519 donated in the last two weeks of December.

Bicycle trip raises $5,100 in Sponsorships for 200 computers to be shipped in January ~ $1,400 is still needed.
This shipment is expected to connect to the Internet 14 schools, orphanges and youth centres with 5,000 youth.

204 computer sets will help connect 15 schools and 5,000 students
A volunteer with WCE spent six weeks in the state of Sikkim, India helping to plan the use of computers in local schools and arranged in June 2008 for a Sponsor to help pay the $12,000 in sourcing and shipping to provide 204 computer sets to help connect 15 schools and their 5,000 students. The schools are in the northeastern part of India. The shipment is planned to depart in early 2009. |

Peace Corps volunteers get local schools in Honduras ready for computers - they still need final $184.
Eight Peace Corps Volunteers in various parts of Honduras are helping local schools in the communities where they are based prepare for a shipment of 200 used Pentium 3 (and some P4) computers to World Vision from World Computer Exchange with financial support from Rotary Clubs in the USA.

During her recent annual visit to Sénégal, WCE volunteer Programme Officer, Lettie Heer, RPCV, met with Peace Corps Volunteers and WCE Partner organisations to plan WCE's next shared and Sponsored container of 200 computers to help connect rural schools in Sénégal. ~ $2,250 is still needed for this shipment.

We thought you might like to see a couple of the Thank You notes WCE received for our shipments to our Partner Computadoras pro Jovenes in Mexico. We have worked for years with the Rotary Club of San Miguel de Allende with the cooperation of the Rotary Club in Dallas as well as with the Rotary Club in Corpus Christi. We are currently collecting laptop computers for our fourth shipment to Mexico. because they have just received $20,000 from Rotary International! |

WCE's pilot project combines computer labs, eCorp volunteers and our eWaste initiative.
WCE has a new Board member from Bolivia, David Lozano. David is helping us work with the Santa Cruz Rotary Club to pilot a comprehensive project including training, computers, visiting eCorps teams, volunteer help on identifying online educational content, and assistance with identifying local responsible recyclers in Bolivia. |
